Walking

One of the things that always makes me happy is walking. I love walking. I love the way walking makes me appreciate nature. Through walking, I appreciate the trees and flowers around me, the stray cats and the neighbor’s dogs (as long as they do not go near me), and the sounds of the birds chirping.  I spend an hour each day walking outdoors. I take 10,000 steps a day. I try to be as mindful as I can while I am walking. I tune in to my thoughts while walking. I listen to my emotions while walking. I become a metacognitive person while walking. What I’m trying to say is that walking gives me the clarity of mind that I need to help me be as calm and peaceful as possible.  My daily morning routine starts the moment Tala is in school. Once Tala is deposited in her classroom, I put on my walking shoes, take my phone, keycard, and wallet with me, put on my shades and cap, and head outside to walk.  And the minute I lock the door, my walking mood is turned on. A Real-Life Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, there lived a very pretty princess named Lucia. She had silky long hair and she loved wearing a crown on her head. Princess Lucia got her crown on her 11th birthday, and she loved it so much that she never took it off. She wore it while sleeping and she wore it even during her swimming classes at princess school.  Lucia did not care even if the townspeople thought that she was weird… or eccentric… or different. She loved being herself, which made the people dislike her more.  When Lucia turned 18 years old, her father, the king, wanted her to marry a rich and handsome prince from another kingdom. But, the princess did not want to settle down just yet. She told her father that she wanted to explore first, learn more about the world, and travel to other places before she gets married.  The king and the queen were dumbfounded upon hearing the princess’s plan for her future. After all, every lady in the kingdom would die for the opportunity to marry t...

Guided Meditation - a Different Kind

Are you ready?  Let’s begin. Get in a comfortable position. Sit or lie down. Close your eyes. But if you happen to be driving on the road, especially on the expressway, better keep your eyes open and meditate once you reach your destination.  Breathe in through your nose. Hoping everything smells nice at this point. Exhale through your mouth.  Now, if you happen to be in a bus or in a train or in a crowded place, you can exhale through your mouth but inside your shirt.  You wouldn’t want to be in a fight for something unpleasant that comes out from there.  Now relax. Feel the sensation of your breath as it travels through your body.  Inhale energy. Exhale stress.  Inhale positivity. Exhale negativity… like your toxic boss… or flight delays… or traffic jams… or a fight with a loved-one… or a poor service from a spa… or losing at chess… or finding out about a late onset lactose intolerance… or seeing a dead...
