A Bible Passage A Day: Ephesians 2:10

For we are God’s masterpiece. Ephesians 2:10
Imagine working on two sets of jigsaw puzzles. Naturally, not all pieces will fit together because there are puzzle pieces that are meant for one set, while the other pieces are for the other set.

Now imagine God making two sets of people the way that we make 2 sets of jigsaw puzzles. God carefully puts the pieces together to create two special and unique individuals. These pieces are our own skills, physical attributes, experiences, talents, and health conditions.

Each one of us is made by God, made in His image, but we are all different because of the different puzzle pieces put together to make us.

God created us for a purpose. Each one of us is given a unique set of attributes and skills so that we can fulfil His purpose for us.

You may be gifted with a great singing voice, probably because your purpose in life is to become a choirmaster. Or a Music teacher in school.

You may be gifted with a tall physique and athletic build because your purpose in life is to inspire others to be fit and healthy as an athlete.

Or you may be gifted with financial wealth because your purpose in life is to create a foundation that would help the less fortunate ones in their daily living.

But you may ask, how about those with disabilities or handicaps? Are they meant to serve a higher purpose? Certainly!

Disabilities and handicaps may limit a person from moving freely, but there is always something else that they can give to the world. Despite a disability, there is a special capability that God certainly endows a person with.

Frida could not use her lower limbs but used her arms to create beautiful artworks that serve as inspiration to millions of people up to now.

Nick Vujicic’s bright smile will leave you wondering how he inspires so many despite having no arms and legs.

There is always something to share in the world because God endowed us with special skills and attributes that are meant to serve our purpose in life.

For times that we feel like we are not good enough, or for times when we compare ourselves with others, wishing that we have what others have, always be reminded that you and I are different.

I am different because my skills serve my purpose. And the same is with you.

Ephesians 2:10 leaves us with a challenge to embrace our own uniqueness, nurture our own capabilities, and explore how these can further accomplish our purpose in life.
